“Travelaze” is Azerbaijan based tour operator and Destination Management Company. We established the company in February, 2018 with a small group of friends with the idea to promote affordable day and multi-day tours as well as niche travel in Azerbaijan. We all were tourism graduate with previous background in this field, so it was hard to think a better business to start than this.
However, there was one challenge in front of us like most other start-ups. How to be differentiated in the market?
Our destination- Azerbaijan is not that big. It covers 86.600 sq. km. The fact that the country is very rich with historical and cultural sights and as well as the natural attractions, was one promising thing, but there was other face of the truth- intense competition in the market.
Although Azerbaijan is a very small market, there are almost 1600 travel agencies and tour operators working there. We know the difficulty of entering to such kind of market, where we will need strong unique selling products. It may sound easy (as it is in marketing class), but it took us months long research to find out potential added values and unique products to differentiate in the market.
At last, we decided on followings:
- Certified Guides- Although, many tour operators are out there, they keep the rates cheaper by hiring uncertified guides with low service fee. It hurts the business in terms of client satisfaction. Therefore, we do not accept driver- guide concept. Guide cannot be a driver at the same time as it will decrease the quality of guiding and will risk the safety of the tourists. Thus, certified tourist guide is our “Must” for every tour we organise in Azerbaijan or in Georgia.
- Multi- day group tours- By this way, our clients can explore many places in Azerbaijan in a more affordable rates. It particularly suits to solo travellers or couples and those who want to have a long holiday in Azerbaijan in a cheaper prices. You can check the regularly updated list of our group tours here
- Not a business, but ethical business- We do charge you for our services, but that is not more than 10% of the costs occurred for your trip. Otherwise, our office could not operate, right?
- Customise services- From the Day 1 you approach or write to us, our team will learn about your specific requirements. We will combine your requests with our expert knowledge to have a final memorable holiday offer. We always put us on your shoes and try to exclude the places where we think might be uninteresting for you.
Currently, our services include a wide range of tourism services, including air ticket reservation, accommodation booking, day tours, private and group tours, airport transfer, guide services and MICE assistance.
Since February, 2018, within the first year of our operation, we received 930 international tourists. Our main source markets were Russia, Bulgaria, India, Pakistan, UAE, Qatar, Italy and etc. This result was beyond our expectations and we think that as Travelaze team we are on the right track.
