UEFA Euro 2020 Baku will be staged between 12-22 June, 2020…

For the football fans, 2020 will be more joyful.. For the honour of the 60th anniversary of the tournament, UEFA EURO 2020 will be a celebrations all over Europe. The host cities ranging from Dublin to Baku are likely to get swept up in the summer football fervour.

Hosting Group A matches, as well as the quarter finals, Baku Olympic Stadium is the largest stadium in Azerbaijan. The stadium has the capacity of 68,700 spectators.  Baku is frequently compared to Dubai but truth be told, it’s a unique mix of new and old.. Located on the crossroads of the East and West, the city has always been and still remains administrative, political, cultural and trade centres of the region.

June 14, 2020: Baku city tour

  • Breakfast at hotel;
  • Highland Park to view the beautiful panorama of Baku City and Caspian Sea, as well as watching the magnificent Flame Towers of Baku;
  • Then, we will have a tour in Old City of Baku- the most ancient part of the city dates back to Palaeolithic period. The Old city includes  more than 20 historical buildings. Most famous sites are Maiden Tower and Shirvankhakhs’ palace  and both are in UNESCO World Heritage List;
  • Walking tour across Nizami street- one of the most famous shopping streets in Baku
  • Fountain Square of Baku-a public gathering place, especially after business hours and during the weekend. Therefore, it is mostly crowded place.
  • Sightseeing of Azerbaijan Carpet Museum- a museum that has the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets in the world. In order to differentiate, the structure of the building looks like a rolled carpet;
  • Walking Excursion in Baku Boulevard; In addition, we can take a boat tour in Caspian bay depending on the weather.
  • After that, visit to Heydar Aliyev Center- a building complex designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid.

June 15, 2020: Absheron Peninsula tour

  • Leaving the hotel for Gala Ethnographical Museum-dedicated to the Medieval Period history of the Absheron Peninsula. In the museum, the visitors can learn about the lifestyle of Medieval period Azerbaijan people.
  • Burning Mountain (Yanardag)- one of the “must see” natural wonders located about 25 km from the capital Baku. A 10 m long wall of fire on the hill is never extinguishes.
  • Ateshgah temple– In addition, we will visit the most famous well-preserved Zoroastrian temple of fire-worshippers. The temple has a mixture of Indian and Azerbaijani architectural styles. There are still some wall inscriptions in Sanskrit, including poems.
  • After the tour, have some free time

June 16, 2020: Gobustan tour

  • After, you will visit the Bibiheybat mosque
  • Gobustan Museum- an area 60 km from Baku, where stone age rock paintings exist. On the petroglyphs, the men are described as hunters while the women was perceived as the symbol of good. Moreover, the Azerbaijan national dance “Yalli” was widely reflected on rocks, as well as hunting, harvest, animal fights, etc.
  • Soon after, visit to  Mud Volcanoes of Azerbaijan  . Almost half of the mud volcanoes in our planet are in the territory of Azerbaijan. Therefore, Azerbaijan is sometimes referred as “home of the mud volcanoes”.

June 18, 2020: Baku- Shamakhi- Gabala- Shaki

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Leaving the hotel for Gabala
  • Diribaba Mausoleum- a wonderful example of architecture. Moreover, it is a sacred place for local people due to the ancient legends and stories. For instance , one legends says that a sacred person- called Diribaba had buried here and remained imperishable across the centuries. Therefore, the mausoleum attracts many pilgrims and visitors from its construction date.
  • Juma Mosque of Shamakhi- the largest mosque of Azerbaijan. It is one of the first mosques of Azerbaijan after the Arab occupation of Caucasus.There is a large prayer hall which is divided into three separated sections. Moreover, each part of the mosque has its own prayer place and entrance. Therefore, Juma Mosque is also called three-hall mosque.
  • Lahij village-a remote village located  on the slopes of Greater Caucasus, at a height of 1211 meters above sea level. The distance from the capital Baku to the village is about 190 km. The population of the village is around 2,000 residents mainly consisting of the ethnic minority group who speak the Tat language. In other words, Lahij is a living heritage and must visit place in Azerbaijan.
  • Nohur Lake- a beautiful lake located 3 km away from Gabala. Moreover, we will have a short hiking in the forest surround the lake.
  • Tufandag Mountain resort- highest elevated mountain resort in Caucasus. Cable car ride to the top of the mountain, to see the panorama of the Caucasus. In addition, you can have plenty of activities here like horse riding, quad tours, biking, etc.

June 19, 2020: Uefa 2020- Gabala- Shaki & Wine degustation tour

  • Shaki Khans’ Palace- one of the fascinating buildings of Medieval time Azerbaijan. Therefore, it is in UNESCO World Heritage list as well. Though it is called a Palace, in fact it was a summer residence of Shaki Khanate. The palace was part of the larger administrative complex located within the Shaki Fortress. Along with the palace, once there were other magnificent structures, such as winter palace, residential buildings for Khans’ family, servants and army barracks in the complex.
